Measurement Methodology

All dimensions are derived from a combination of:

  1. Boeing Technical Training Manuals — structural references where available
  2. Scaled photography — using known objects (standard avionics connectors, 1-inch annunciators) as size references
  3. Community cross-referencing — dimensions validated against multiple cockpit photos and builder reports
  4. Physical mockups — critical dimensions tested with cardboard templates before cutting MDF

All measurements below are in millimetres unless stated.

Disclaimer: These are builder-derived measurements for home simulator use. They should not be used for any certified aviation purpose.

Glare Shield

The glare shield is built as a box frame from 6mm MDF, with the face panel inset and bonded with wood glue and M4 bolts. The EFIS selector panels (Captain and First Officer) are mounted on recessed pockets on each side.

The throttle levers are driven by 3D-printed PETG bodies with internal brass bushings, mounted on 8mm stainless shafts. Detents at IDLE, CLB, and MCT are implemented with spring-loaded ball bearings pressing into machined notches.
